I discovered this Russian Illustrator totally by coincidence when I was looking into my last post. Its by an illustrator who goes by the name Maria Aijmio and I find the illustrations incredibly beautiful. I love the simplicity of the colours and the textures she has created.

This series portrays a tale of a boy who has been cursed with antlers from birth. Everybody thinks he is a freak and he is rejected from society and his parents send him to live alone in the forest. He tries to fit in with the other deer but they reject him for being too human. He lives alone for many years and follows humans when they are walking in the forest, at night he follows lovers in the forest as he craves affection and just wants to be loved but he ends up scaring everyone away.

I think the idea of the antlers would be interesting to take forward and rework in some way into headgear and I am really drawn to the way the faces are painted and think this could work for styling later on in my work. 

Relating back to my last post I would like to use this half human half deer creature in my made up creatures and use this as inspiration for one of my creatures that is quite lonely and wears just red, white, black and brown. I also think this would make an amazing graphic for a tshirt.
